TELLING WHISKY'S GREATEST STORY
Designing a museographic exhibition for The Macallan 1926
The Macallan 1926 is the world's most famous whisky.
Distilled in The Macallan Estate in 1926, its myth has grown through a century of extraordinary milestones, from bespoke labels by renowned artists (Michael Dillon, Sir Peter Blake, and Valerio Adami) to becoming the most expensive whisky ever sold.
To mark this remarkable story, The Macallan asked us to create a centenary exhibition at its estate.
Having worked on multiple projects exploring the life of Janet Harbinson, we had built what is likely the brand's most comprehensive body of research on this pivotal figure. That deep understanding became the foundation of the exhibition, allowing us to tell the story with a richness and authenticity few others could.
We designed a refined, multi-sensory experience featuring original artefacts, untold anecdotes from the past century, and three original bottles of the spirit.
Elegant materials, subtle moments of discovery, and a spatial journey inspired by the passage of time guided visitors experienced the story of The Macallan 1926 as it unfolded through a century.
The exhibition consisted of interactive, immersive sensory exhibits engaging visitors, touch, hearing, sight, and imagination
With a seamless blend of archival materials, audiovisual content, interactive experiences, and resonant storytelling, we told whisky’s greatest story.
